How it all began

It was 2001. Everytime I turned around I kept hearing about the little girls in China. That there were hundreds and thousands of baby girls living in orphanages in China. Everytime I turned on the TV - there it was. Everytime I went to a conference - someone was there speaking about China. So I had to ask myself...is God trying to tell me something?

Brad & I had been married for 5 years. We had always always said that this was when we wanted to start a family. And I was drawn in such a strong way to check out adoption from China. The more I searched for information- the more this love grew inside of me for a baby I had never met. But then I found out that both parents had to be 30 to adopt from China. I was only 26 at the time.

I had shared my heart with Brad - and even though he seemed open to the idea - I could tell he was reserved about it. Now I know it was the fear of the unknown.

Since it would be several years before we could qualify by age to adopt one of these abandoned baby girls, we decided to try and have a biological child. January 2003 Macy Brooke McMath entered our lives and has been utter joy! I don't know what we ever did all those years before her! Life must have been soooo boring!
